I'm thinking of getting an oto for my 5 gallon tank with a male betta. Will an single oto be fine, or would he want a buddy? I've heard otos can be kept by themselves..

But I still would feel better if I only keep 4 or 3. I'm only 13, I don't think I'll have time to do so many changes with 10 in a 5 gallon tank

Thanks for the advice though! I'm still going to keep my eye out for pygmys in stores, maybe look up a non-chain fish store near me.

P.S. Don't get me started on the 1" per gallon myth. This ain't the 1950's!

Well, if you read my other post, I'm considering getting pygmy corys. I doubt my petsmart or petco has them, they only have larger species (panda, etc.). I'd like to buy them online, the only place I know is aquabid, but the only sellers are selling them for 10 or 25 corys each auction ...
