would have to agree that you will be more than fine with more than 3-4 pygmy cories in a 5 gallon tank. i have a shoal of ten in in 4.5 tank with a betta, and a couple of shrimp, you wont need to do much more water changes, IMO should do a small water change every week/fortnight and monitor water ...
