Update...in the container we were/are having the fungus problem. After trying many things we tried a small substrate in the container. It seems to be helping. Mortality rate is improving.

My theroy is that the fry moving along the substrate helps rub the fungus off their bodies.

Personally we leave the adults and remove the eggs...

So you can roll the eggs off the sides of tanks if you want.

We, when removing eggs from adult tank, place them on the sides of containers. It seems to help keep eggs cleaner.

Maybe I should clarify...we give them big rocks to get up next to, or go behind, not under, we can still see them. It gives them something to go behind when there is traffic in front of their tank, makes them feel more secure (or maybe that is just my perception of it )

We are currently breeding Sterbai.

Specs for our tank...

50 gallon
natural gravel (small size)
Eheim canister filter
powerhead for water flow (they love it)
Ebo-Jager set at 76 F.
Gh/kh 3 and under
ph 6.4 (comes out of our tap at 7.2, ages lower due to softness)
it was 6.0 ...

One thing to be very wary of is that Methylene Blue will greatly inhibit nitrification even at very low levels

The Sterbai are spawning ever other, to every 3rd day, so hopefully we can figure this stuff out. We will probably try it ALL and see what helps! Something has to, we just have to find ...
