This tank is still going but not with the same scape, it was rescaped in early 2011!
Still went on for a little while:

But after a heater incident that basically boiled the whole contents of the tank, I had no choice but to start again, and ...

Re: My Shrimp Only Tank - Cherry and CRS
I have been trying for 18 months, and had about 40 grade S shrimplets, then had a problem with the tank and lost them all. So not sure if I will try them again, spent a lot of cash on them. I am thinking about trying other shrimp species, got some delivered two weeks ago but most arrived dead ...

that surprises me... i thought these shrimp liked soft water. And I wonder why the chlorine in the tap water hasn't wiped out your stock and killed the bacteria in your filters. What size water changes and how frequent?

hmm good point. probably a good idea to have a larger tank in that case. aren't shrimp very sensitive to water parameters?
Larger is better off course, like I said your 72l would be ideal ;)
Hi Londondragon,
You might have a convert here... I'm really impressed with your tank.

Re: My Shrimp Only Tank - Cherry and CRS
The problem with Crystals in a nano is that they don't like high temps and a nano tank heats up pretty quick to room temperature of higher in the summer, you would need a fan to keep the temps around 24ºC.
I did have some Crystals but an attack of planaria wiped them out

Re: My Shrimp Only Tank - Cherry and CRS
Hi Shamrock,
It all depends on what type of shrimp you want to keep, but that 72 litre is perfect for any kind of shrimp you want to keep.
If you want to keep Cherries then they are easy and hardy shrimp, they do well in most types of water and also various temps 18-30ºC

I try to keep the diffusers in the shade so I'm only cleaning them once a month, but yeah, that's a pain. There's a GB on those inline diffusers right now in my local aquarist forum. I think I might give one a try, based on your success with them.

Ah...ok, that's what a lot of the local planted tanks guys have gone to also. I personally still use ceramic diffusers in the tank and "mist" the CO2 with Koralia powerheads.
