They have spawned again, and once again the male has kicked the eggs, despite the cave entrance being raised, he doesn't seem to be cut out to care for ... I've repeated this three times so far.

For now they are in a floating breeding trap with a decent flow of water over them, hopefully I have more luck ...

My L260 have been doing a similar thing for several months, the male leaves his cave and the very ... they aren't the only fish doing it! They have spawned before, so I would have thought they would ... maybe the male doesn't see it as a suitable breeding location?

Hopefully they will spawn for you ...

They have spawned again and the eggs ended up in the same location, because I didn't get around to raising the cave entrance. I put the eggs in a small container floating in the tank with an alder cone and air line, changing the water a few times per day.

They all fungused again but took about twice ...

They spawned inside the sponge filter because of the donut shaped bubbler I used instead of the traditional cross piece.

In my L260, I determined the cause of that was low dissolved oxygen. Because of the increased temperature and the small containers I put the fry in, even a small amount of disruption in flow would cause this issue. I also had not fed the fry yet when I had them do this.

While most Hypancistrus I keep have spawned whether I did rainy seasons or not, that is not the case with my H. zebra, or L260. Both of these guys seem to really need induced to spawn. I know a couple other breeders that have had the same experience, but I do not know if there are other Hypancistrus ...

Kevin Korotev spawned my first F1 L260 at 19 months. L333 grow much more quickly. I would have to guess the L333 would slow down the growth of the L260 if they had to compete much. I also tend to keep L260 warmer than L333, but that might just be what mine prefer ;).

My group of L260 spawned for the first time, when they were around 2½ years old.
The fishes spawned without doing any special changes in the aquarium.

Do you keep them in fairly soft water and then try partial water changes using RO replacement water?
That is the only thing that I could remotely associate with their spawns. All cues have been too vague for my perception. I never knew mine had spawned until I would find their newly released fry.

My L333 have spawned in very soft water with a pH of about 6.0 but they spawn well enough in my tap ... since I don't really know which ones are breeding at any given time. I don't pay very much ... which spawn from March 1st to Sept. 1st and my L260 seem to spawn best between November and February ...
