Re: Ongoing Synodontis Thread

I keep trying to get some pictures of them...but still kinda skittish around my place. I figure they will take a while to actually get used to the new tank and household. I am a heavy footed walker...and i have two mastiffs that weigh about 100-120 lbs each. But to see them start this behavior less ...

Re: Ongoing Synodontis Thread

So ive been watching my tanks and have definitely noticed some strange behaviours. I keep catching two of my newest group of "multis" doing a dance i could only describe as courting or mating. The one...the bigger of the two, will swim around being followed by the other...who will "bite" at the vent ...

Re: Ongoing Synodontis Thread

I am also thinking its "syno on syno" crime lol. They might have sensed breeding of your ancistrus or who knows. I was watching my tanks last night and witnessed a few of mine chasing each other around the tank. Theyre usually not THAT rough with each other...but anything is possible with them lol ...

This first one is of a juvenile i got labelled as multipunctatus. I am thinking it may be a grandiops tho. Still beautiful fish.

Re: Ongoing Synodontis Thread

Tried to get a few pics of the "petricola" i got a few weeks back. These guys are in my newly established QT tank...even tho i am sure theyre fine. I had to make some moves i usually wouldnt...i was forced to introduce the group of 8 "multi's" straight into my tank. i was not comfortable sticking so ...

Re: Ongoing Synodontis Thread

Oh i know. I have had bad luck in the past(and hopefully not the present) with that as well. All too many times the LFS has fish mislabeled and give out false info as far as care and max size are concerned.

Re: Ongoing Synodontis Thread

I was thinking the same actually...i definitely dont agree that theyre legit. This store actually has some tiny "petricola" that look more like hybrids as well. And this is where my girlfriend picked up a "synodontis piedratus"....which isnt even a real name lol.

Re: Ongoing Synodontis Thread

I am half expecting my "multi's" to be all grandiops. From what i've learned from the site, im expecting one hybrid as well..and what ive been told farm wete raised grandiops. I am really interested in seeing what the "true petricola" end up being as well lol.

Ok. Thanks for confirmation. Did you see the one with the picture of pectoral rays? Were you able t see them good enough? I am going to be trying to get some better pictures of each one, labelled and seperated. But if that one looks like grandiops, then 3 are indeed same.

Well i plan on making a thread on my synos. I jus grew my pack of petricola to 7..and my multis are at 6. Ive been looking to rehome the hybrid ny girlfriend purchased for me. He/she is a demon..very aggressive towards all the synos that are same size.

Can anyone see how many I have now? Lol this was during a deep clean of my substrate and 30% water change. That is why they're stressed out looking and huddled together like this...not how they're usually. I went to a local breeders place to pick up some aulonocara baenschi females for my tank ...

Re: Syno Multis??

I jus got this pic tonight. Jus moved them into bigger tank and they've really started to move around and be active. Definitely starting to notice differences between the separate "groups" I bought. This is 1 of 3 of the larger ones. I will try to get some better pics as the water clears up.
