Re: HELP cant keep baby l134 alive
My L134 spawn and the fry survives at 26°C just fine. Water Quality seems to be a really big issue with these. If anything is off, they will all die quite quickly. A cheap UV-Clearer might be worth a try. The fry needs to be supplied with lots of oxygen and there must be a lot of water circulation f...

Re: WC L280 (Micracanthicus Vandragti) import
At my local garden center, I can buy 5-6 foot bamboo poles, either 1" outer diameter or 1.5" outer diameter, for between $3.99 and $8.99USD, depending on length and diameter. Each pole can be cut into about 6 - 7 caves and at least that many pipes. Very cheap. Only downside to bamboo is t...

I honestly think it is not that bad, either. But I always mix it in the fish room, so only me and the fish will smell it, anyways

Far from L260. These are both L66, just different catch locations.Fundulopanchax76 wrote: ↑11 May 2018, 07:27 It seems to me that these two fish have different color pattern ! The smaller one looks more like L 260 ! Are they the same species ?

Re: L200 not eating propperly
I would refrain from feeding loricariids only every second day as well.
Especially with Baryancistrus.
Feed less but more often. These fish would eat all day in their natural habitats. Having veggies and fruits in the tank for most of the time as a supplement would be a good choice in my eyes.

Re: sexing L066 king tiger pleco help
I would say the smaller fish is a male. The bigger one looks more like a female to me, but depending on how long these fish have been with you, it might just be a male that dropped lots of odontodes during transport/import.

Hey there,
it is really hard to tell from this pictures alone. I would tend to a female. But it's far from a clear call. You might want to add pictures from the dorsal (top) view.

Re: to bark or not to bark?
I have four pleco tanks. two are heavier into wood eaters. All have green pomegranate wood and a small amount of apricot wood. Noone eats the apricot wood but all pieces of pomegranate wood have been stripped of bark. Should I try to have the wood eaters eat the inner pomegranate wood or replace wi...

Re: L135 Trio
I just had to double check to be sure. But my fish are not P. braueri. P. Braueri shows 8 dorsal ray fins while L135 only show 7. P. Braueri origins from the Rio Takutu while L135 is from Rio Demini. I'm fairly sure L135 is P. braueri . The Takutu, upper Branco, Demini share a lot of the same speci...

Yeah, many of us lost plecos to jumping out of the tank. It is a real danger that should not be left unconsidered.

Re: L135 Trio
Hey there, sorry I had no luck, yet :-( I lost my only female when she manged to jump out of the tank through a tiny whole in the cover of the tank... Males will have odontodes on their tails during spawning season. They will look more elongated and a little thinner. Females tend to not cave. But ma...

Identifying worm line hypancistrus is always tough. You might need to wait and see how his pattern develops into the future. If I had to make a guess I would say it is a young tank raised L66.

Quite some plecos love sweet fruits. Melons seem to be a hit among mine. Watermelon or a sweet yellow melon, both are well accepted.

Re: ID of this spotted pleco and scuff marks
My guess would be a little odd coloured Hypancistrus Contradens.
I wouldn't worry about scuff marks. It's a common thing on plecos and usually disappears after a few days.

Re: L134: Possible Ich/velvet, tail wagging on every pleco?
Looks like Ich to me. Please treat really fast. It is a serious disease that can kill plecos. Sadly I can not give advice on the meds that are available in the US.
I hope someone will shine in and offer some advice on what meds to take.

72 should be about fine. I let the temp go down to as low as 69F sometimes. But I can tell that some of them don't enjoy this freshness

Why don't you remove some of the jungle? it will grow back again ;)
You might also need some more Waterchanges to minimize the algae grow in the future.

Re: Tips on how to separate fries
If they breed and are healthy, I don't see reason to move the parents. You just need to place the caves in a way for you to see when they spawned, so you can pull the fry after they hatched, if needed.

Re: Are these L397?
The other three had some troubles, sunken bellies... I dewormed them. I am still trying to get them back up into shape. So far no strong odontodes there. But I think they need to eat properly, first.

Re: Tips on how to separate fries
You either separate them quite soon after hatching, before they leave the dad's cave or you better leave them in there. Catching them after they left the cave is a real pain.

Re: Setting up a Pleco breeder, my style
As Marc said, it is plenty for my purpose. If I want strong current, I go with the same setup and add a propeller pump / wavemaker like the Tunze Turbelle Nanostream. They are very power-efficient for the water-flow they create.

Really helpfull conversation guys. Excuse me for interrupting. Thanks for sharing Jobro! Could you tell me which powerhead is used for the filter right now? I am using two jetlifters. One on the right side, one on the left side. Like these: http://www.swisstropicals.com/filtration-shop/jetlifter-cu...
