Well, that's the end of Ancistomus then methinks. I wonder if this species is also L124, L75 - that would open the distribution up somewhat. Also, the paper mentions another big spot species which might be L163...

For my 2p that's a L134, but you'll never convince everyone unless you get clearer pics. I would say thouhg that from the shape of the fish it is no Hypancistrus and that rules out a few of the suggestions. It might just be some type of Panaque, but L134 is famously variable in terms of pigmentation...

If they look like the pics of S. aterrimus in the Cat-eLog, I'd say they are most likely juvenile S. eupterus (which is what the pics labelled as S. aterrimus in the Cat-eLog are), which grows to about 20cm. I've been meaning to weigh in on this one for a while but I have some ...

Well, all I can say is that the various species of Corydoras I've collected in the wild none were living on pea gravel. Or, for that matter, were there very many plants around (in the water) there were plenty shading it. Having said that I have found them living over rock chip gravel so sharp I coul...

Coryman, sorry but i have to comment, it is not like the cross breeding was done on purpose, if you didnt know- things like this sometimes happen, people cant be as perfect as you, sorry, you seem to jump down peoples throats, you must know everything! hence the name 'coryman', i think sometimes yo...

I would avoid C. adolfoi unless you are buying tank raised ones acclimatized to neutral pH. Wild ones will not enjoy the experience. C. trilineatus (what you are calling C. julii) are a good bet, and maybe 10 would be really good in your tank. Maybe a few less if you go for C. sterbai as they are a ...

Synodontis serpentis did cross my mind as I looked tat the photo in Sand's book. The extremely rugose head kinda threw me off, though. Is this something that could develop with age? Also, the pics I ID'ed as S. serpentis on PC are of a just slightly more elongate fish but its one of those th...

Would it not be possible to use the http://www.milonic.co.uk/ one as a floating horizontal menu? It's not floating, it's static, so how you make it float? Anyway, as far as I can see it won't work over two vertical frames such as those we use in the cat-elog. One frame is fine as you can specify th...

Try this generator, once you have it you can play with the variables. http://host-biz.com/flashdropdown.html Also nice, but this appears to be a vertical menu I don't think it does menu sub options - which we need lots of! Will have a look around the site 'cos some of the stuff is pretty snazzy. Jo...
