Re: Which Bunocephalus?
Thanks, guys. I thought I had it narrowed down, but I guess not. After donating my banjo catfish to a local auction, I found the one banjo cat seen above buried in the sand. I guess he wanted to stay with me. :d So now he is a single. Before the donation, I had had three different species of banjos ...

Which Bunocephalus?
What banjo catfish is this? I've got it narrowed down to either B. coracoideus or B. colombianus.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: rescue with a synodontis ill-treated
Synodontis nigriventris will spend the first day or two moving sometimes constantly around the tank, then they will settle down. They will quickly learn when it is feeding time though :chores-vacuum: This was true for me! Last April, I accepted two S. nigriventris from my friend who was moving. The...

Thanks to you both for this good information. It has helped me to decide to go ahead with the Boraras. If something notable happens, I'll make a note in the My Fish data.

S. nigriventis and Boraras species.
I want to add about 50 small cyprinids, a Boraras species, to my 55 gallon tank. In this same tank are two Synodontis nigriventis , which are not full grown. The largest is 75 mm SL. My question is, do you think the synos will eat the boraras? Not "can they" eat them but is it very likely ...

Re: Synodontis nigriventris?
The appearance of the smaller syno seems exaggerated to me, so maybe it was the camera angle. In person, this fish does not appear to be particularly oddly-shaped, but it is definitely smaller and darker than the bigger one. And it has those HUGE eyes! Looking very closely at the fish under the dark...

Synodontis nigriventris?
My friend is moving out of town and gave me most of his catfish, including these two Synodontis.
Are these S. nigriventris, or something else?
Thanks!

... but for accuracy reasons, I really wouldn't want to leave the BLOG recorded under coracoideus if the fish aren't coracoideus.... Right?!? Right! A similar thing happened to me when I got my first banjos. The guy in the LFS very kindly ordered them for me. His supplier sent him a type of banjo c...

Re: Banjo catfish?
Thanks, Eric. That was a pretty good thread. "The Dark One" has helped me in the past with other banjo catfish and their relatives. Unfortunately, I didn't check the posterior processes of the coracoids before I released the fish into the tank; I knew about them from a previous discussion ...

Re: Which Aspredinidae are being kept by PC members
Congrats on your new verrucosus, Yann! The long search is over. In 2009, I decided to try banjo cats and asked the LFS to get B. verrucosus. They said they could. A few weeks later I got the call and went in to find something entirely different! But I bought them anyway, being charmed by the little ...

Thanks for this insight, Shane.
Feral populations have caused concern, in more ways than one.
Can you explain a bit more what you mean by this?

Re: ID for common pleco needed.
Hey, Marc.
The fish belongs to a friend in my fish club. He got it from a pet store when it was very small, less than 2", and the deformity came about slowly over time.

From the looks of it you are having a wonderful trip!
Your scenic views are amazing and would be good models and inspiration for a Nature Aquarium layout.

Re: Mystery dwarf catfish.
Thanks. I got them from a local auction, JRAS, as verbal says. The fish were too pale last night to determine the species by eye alone. Today, after a night in the aquarium, they look more like the catelog photos of A. spilotus.

Hello!
Any idea what they are?
They are very tiny at 20mm and look a little like Corydoras habrosus from the side.
Thanks!

Re: Corydoras julii?
Thanks, all, I appreciate the replies and the thought you are giving to this. It's possible that either the owner of these fish or I can find out where they came in from by asking at the LFS. If you don't know if they came in from Peru or Bresil (Belém) you cannot be absolutely sure. Will post here ...
