Re: Unknown Corydoras Death
Only think that I can see is that the PH is far higher than you would want for Cory's, Id suggest trying to lower that down much closer to 7.

Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned
Thats very cool Eric, congrats. Im interested in if the eggs are falling all the way through the fine netting or are trapped above the netting in the egg crate? I've been looking for a good way to catch tetra/characin eggs and been thinking of a similar method as you have here but with the egg crate...

Re: Does pH and hardness matter with hatching woodcat eggs?
I've never kept or bred Fishers's, but my Intermedia are at a lower TDS and KH and a PH around 6.5. I can tell you that sometimes I get really good hatch rates and other times its maybe 50% with no apparent difference at all. Ive heard, and experienced, that raising wood cats to adult hood is usuall...

Re: Highly Recommended Places in the UK?
I have not lived in the UK for many years, but when I go back I always try and goto Wholesale aquatics in London and Whalf aquatics up north. I grew up in the UK and kept fish for many years there, and now live in the US and have always found that Europe has many more wild and rare fish while the US...

Eric was right... Mine were not fertile ( you could see that they were a little white in the picture), and after 3-4 days they melted away! Ill keep trying now that I know where they lay them and how.

This is very cool, great to see new sp. being spawned like this so we can learn about them.

Re: Finally! A Tatia gyrina spawn!
Well there is something in the air.... my T. gyrina laid eggs last night! I had been feeding them a little more heavily than usual and changing 10% water everyday for the last 3 days. Eggs are quite different than T.intermedia in that they are not in a blob together, but are all laid under the spawn...

Whats this woodcat?
Hi All, I have no association with this seller, but wondered what you all think these are? They dont look like musaica to me, but maybe its just them being in a blue tank! If you look at the colors on the caudal and other fins and body it does not match at all. Thoughts?? https://exoticfishshop.net/...

Re: Finally! A Tatia gyrina spawn!
Congratulations, that’s fantastic news. I have a group of 6 in a 10g on their own and have had no luck with them despite lots of bloodworms, increased water changes. I’ve even changed around the tank a couple times incase they needed somewhere else to spawn!! Any idea what the trigger was? Maybe I’l...

Im sure lots of folks build there own stands, but I have used pre-made heavy duty stands and they look reasonable, are adjustable based on what I need and are very sturdy. Example is here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KQB84Y3/ref=sspa_dk_detail_2?pd_rd_i=B07KQB84Y3&pd_rd_w=0eMGc&content-id=am...

Ill add onto this that my wild group of T Intermedia have spawned 3 times in the last 7 days, must be something in the air/water!

Re: Woodcats spawning at a young age
Hi all, I have had a group of about 25 young T.intermedia in a 10G and found eggs in the tank at around 7-8 months of age. It was a surprise to me that they bred at such as young age as my wild parents are approx 4-5 yrs old. I will say that the eggs were smaller and the hatch rate was lower. My adu...

Hi Eric,
Congrats on all the babies, thats awesome.
Can you use algae wafers to feed the babies? Seems like they might take to that and Ive seen folks who breed Ancistrus use them? What do you feed the parents?

Re: Just saying hello from the Outer Banks of NC
Hi Chris, welcome.
Ive been on a similar journey, used to have big tanks and big fish(180G's), but now have tanks no larger than 40G breeder and most of 10/20/30. The world of small(er) fish is fascinating as Im sure you have seen.
Good luck and dont be a stranger if you need any help.

Re: T. Intermedia woodcats
REALLY hope that I dont jinks myself, but I think I have cracked the code on how to raise T.Intermedia fry at higher % rates. Probably got 95% hatch rate and now at 2 weeks have 95% survival! Key seems to be taking very fine powdered food and mixing it into the water along with microworms. In the pa...

Re: Tatia gyrina?
Just read an interesting piece of info on Scotcat:
"Also a report on Tatia creutzbergi, (Tatia gyrina) with them placing their adhesive eggs on the underside of wood with no broodcare after the event."
Going to try and add wood to my tank this evening and see if they use it at all?

Re: T. Intermedia woodcats
Keeping this thread going... a late christmas present from my T.intermedia group!
Hope that I can raise most of them this time. Have figured out to get high hatch rate, only ever get 20-30% to salable size! Would like to get that number up over 50% if possible.

Re: Tatia gyrina?
4 of my 5 wild gyrina have adapted really well to captivity, but one continues to only accept bloodworms (both frozen and dried)! I am really hoping that they decide to breed soon. They are in a 10G alone with a little sand on bottom, broken flow pot pieces, a pleco tube and a spawning mop. Im hopin...

Thats crazy, that one that you show has no tail at all! So sorry to see this happen. Are you sure that the fins are not being attacked by the other fish? What happened to the others that you moved a while ago, did the same happen to them in the new tank? Trying to understand if it conspecific or its...

Thats very nicely done. Im impressed not only with the number of spawns and fish in there and the great survival, but also the number of sponge filters! I think there are at least 5 in there (4 air driven and 1 powerhead driven), Im sure it all contributes to your success, great job.

Hi All,
In my humble opinion, this is closest to: https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/im ... e_id=10100
Looking at the last picture it is very close, and the middle line goes into the tail like in this fish.
Great looking fish whatever it is!

Re: What woodcats are being bred by pc members?
Noticed an interesting thing that happened in my fish room this morning. I have a group of 5 wild T.intermedia and have raised fry and traded them to local stores over the last couple years. I have a 10G that has 13 young from a spawn approx 12 months ago that are growing out well. Low and behold wh...
