Re: Ancistrus sp. L255 spawned!!

The fry didn't like the stress of taking pictures and I started to think I had lost it... It wasn't eating and kept going up to the surface, pinching it's fins. Then I had a spawn of Sturisoma and added all the fry I could find to the same fryring as the L255 juvenile. It helped tremendously and the...

Re: Feeding Repashy

I only feed my fish Repashy. So that means every day, although I do have one day a week in which I don't feed. Repashy is an excellent food source to feed on a daily basis. You can switch between different formulas if you want to make it more interesting for yourself. Repashy contains high quality i...

Re: Ancistrus sp. L255 spawned!!

Thanks all! The male kicked the eggs out after 24 hours. Sadly I lost all the eggs due to fungus. By a miracle one premature hatched larvae actually survived and is doing very well at the moment :d I'm not risking anything with this fry so no pictures at this moment but I will try something later th...

Ancistrus ranunculus can be easily distinguished from Ancistrus sp. L255, their spots are very different. I have both species :icon-wink:

Here is my Ancistrus sp. L255.

Re: Parancistrus aurantiacus tips?

Hi there, congratulations with your new fishy friend! I keep and breed mine in warm water (28-30°/82.4-86F) with neutral parameters (Ph7, Kh3, conductivity around 300µ). Give them lots of hiding places (not only caves) with wood, stones or slate. Regulair waterchanges will keep them nice and healthy...

Awesome find! Great fish. I have a pair of Pseudancistrus zawadskii Pseudancistrus sp(l259) . (Identified by Ingo Seidel at Pier Aquatics march 2019) Very interesting fish. The next day I found the eggs at the back of the cave.

Re: Snails mix with pleco eggs?

I use common trumpet snails in my tanks. Also when hatching eggs in fry rings I add a few trumpet snails to keep the surface clean. They do not harm live eggs but will eat dead or fungused eggs.

Re: can you breed l200 hemiancistrus subviridis with 1 male and 1 female?

In theory you can but it is always better to start out with a group so a pair can be formed. Once you have a solid pair that are breeding, you can chose to set them up on their own.

Re: Keeping Bristlenose fries with Adult L316 plecos

Foodwise it's absolutely wrong. Ancistrus should be fed on a herbivore diet. They will eat the carnivores foods which you feed to your Hypancistrus. The Ancistrus will end up in trouble some how.
