Rob, given what Stackdeck said, how did you know your first two were truly yarrelli?
All, how can one make sure they are getting yarelli and not some other Bagarius?

I am guessing they can be very variable in colouration. The one Gokul has posted was collected from a hill stream IFIRC.This is from a brackish area : viewtopic.php?f=13&t=31011&hilit=gulio The one in that thread is also metallic-shiny, not what I'd call dull Cat-eLog says " Easily cha...

from Cat-eLog: -- Other Parameters-- Sensitive to bad water; this species appears particularly susceptible to bacterial / parasitic infections. You must have not found this in your experience, Richard? when it grows to 12", I'd guess it could eat a lot of smaller fishes, up to 5"-6" i...

Re: sick catfish emergency! i need help
Hey Rebecca, I must say your case is unusual and intriguing. What did you decide to do? Do you have an update? There is very little info in your initial post to start helping you beyond what already has been said (and Matt and Larry were trying to help, believe me). What's the fish's size, identity,...

That's one big mystus at 16" max SL! If the ID is right, Cat-eLog could use these nice photos IMHO. Catelog ID entry: Easily characterized by its dull-colored body and very short adipose fin. There are several species currently identified as M. gulio: the true M. gulio is an Indian species that...

Re: New Mini monsters on the feed.
Very sadly, no Rob. I lost him during one of the drives to FL due to my stupid overly confidence. We hit a late-in-the-season (April) cold spell in New York-Pennsylvania-West Virginia with snow and freezing rain on the first 15-20 h of the trip. The water temp dropped too much too fast. God willing,...

Welcome, friend. Where is Erode?
Nice fish - never seen a mystus like that but I am low level with mystus. Shovelnose, Silurus, TheDarkOne, and others should offer knowledge-based opinions, hopefully.
Mats, this belongs in what's my cat forum.

Nice bit of info.
Did he need a permit to put it in the outside pond where it can get away (with or without help from some other creatures, like birds)?
Can anybody else share their 1st-hand experience on these fish?

Re: Ripsaw Cats Feeding
Thanx, David. Wow, how deceptive is the video. They look like massive adults in it - I guess maybe because of the tank size relative to their size. I know that you know it too that 350 gal is a temporary solution but they grow pretty slowly and you have years until it starts getting too small. What'...

You mean towards each other?
My 5" Zeezee spent a lot of time with 25 other types of cats in a 150 gal. Got along just fine with fishes smaller and bigger than him.

Nice, David! How big are they? Look 2'-3'. Sweet. How big is their home?
Between the feedings, mine rested half the time and swam actively other times. What happened at night, I don't know. I love these guys to pieces.

Are these "find 7 differences" pics ? :) Nice. Stackdeck, I can't be certain but my attu (9") and leerii (15") teeth look like that. I don't have close-ups, just going on memory. What do you mean? Mats, how are going to make sure of the ID? The pics above can't be enough, can they?

May be it was all but sensation+pay-looking "journalists", but there were publicized cases in Russia of large wels catfishes killing humans, even small-bodied adults. Mostly in Volga-river region. That's a real big river. Those cats were claimed to be 4-5 meters long and weighed ~300-400 k...
