Re: The Catfish Study Group August Lecture & Bring & Buy mee

Hi MattP Will there be a list of the lots available prior to the auction, or is it a case of seeing what people bring on the day? For all the CSG auctions, It is a case of seeing what people bring on the day, although at times people may post a list either here on Planet Catfish or on the forum at c...

Re: "Burmese Mini Catfish - Ereithes Conta"

Last year at a CSG auction there were some really small erethistini that were put through as H minuscula. I had a few bags, and at first glance they looked like H jerdoni, as my eyesight is now not as a good as it was, I had a chat with 'The dark one'. Where, we both agreed that they were E minuscul...

Re: Odd Hara jerdoni behavior

I have often noted that in hot weather these small erethistini will congregate near to the surface; when this happens I usually alter the air flow rate so that the air is really bubbling out of the filter. When I spawned 'anchor cats' , they laid their eggs into a home made 'egg trap' that was posit...

One thing to be aware of with these type of Dorads, it is more than likely they will predate upon smaller tank mates during the night.

Hi Mcmullen. Greetings and welcome to Planet Catfish Try photographing your fish whilst it is feeding. If it is feeding on Cucumber or similar vegetable matter place the food near to the front of your tank; and then its a case of sitting in front of your tank camera at the ready. Until we can see an...

Re: Baby mekong catfish? can anyone id please

HI Max I paid £50 for the fish- Really saddened to hear that you have paid such a exceedingly large sum here in the UK; for something that is really quite inexpensive. These type of catfish as well as being found in some supermarket branches, are found across the UK in quite a few local fish markets...

Hi CD
(no local shops stock bs eggs, micro worm or vinegar eels)
It maybe worth your while joining a tropical fish society in your region. As well as being a great source of information, you will find that there usually is at least one person who keeps such cultures.

Re: Akysis vespa and temperature

I find that my Akysis do fine at the higher end of their temperature range, as long as you make sure that you have plenty of dissolved oxygen in the water. I have had mine now for nearly 30 months and they look fine. I keep them in a 50 litre tank that is filtered via; one large air powered corner b...

Alternatively, you can clean & purge their digestive system by using a container partially filled with damp garden moss. You can also use this for quite a time before it needs replacing.

Re: EMERGENCY with scleromystax barbatus

It is a bit hard to diagnose your problem exactly over the internet as you may appreciate. However, at first glance it seems to me that you need to raise both your pH and GH. This should not have any adverse effect on the other inhabitants of your tank; actually your Syno's will benefit from any rai...

Re: HELP MY CORY FRY!

It all depends on what is available in the LFS or through fish club auctions at the time.
The product that I prefer is: Liquid invert food by Waterlife products
Although I do use a dry invert food by API if I run out of the liquid.
Like all first foods attention to water quality is a must.

When I was first started to spawn cories, I was informed by a long serving club member, whom had spawned quite a few types of tropical fish, that he fed his cory fry on a liquid marine invert food for the first 5 days or so. I decided to give it a go and I must say I had very little fry fatality. I ...

I take it that you are using US Gallons and not Imperial (UK) Gallons?

55 US gallons = 45.8 imperial gallons.

So being UK gallons orientated; I have to agree that 55 gallon (US) tank is to small.

The front one looks to me as either C gomezi or C leopardus.
Due to C leopardus being variable in regards to markings; leads me to think that there is a strong possibility that you have C leopardus.

Medaka's or Ricefish are common names for Oryzias species.
They belong to the Order Beloniformes and the Family Adrianichthyidae.
My first name is Adrian.
