Re: identifing corydoras
A bold statement to say that it is not C.leopardus, if you do indeed have C. leopardus please add a picture so we can compare. The fish you show may be C.leopardus, it is very close, it is also close to C131. What would help is to know the location where it was collected, without this information yo...

Basically keep them clean (Good well filtered water)and a good variety of food.
A little research on temperature and water type also helps.

Record number of rooms taken.
Record number of delegates booked.
Record number of Germans coming.
All records are being broken this year and everything is looking good for this being "One hell of a do"

Re: Corydoras semiaquilis or something equally fun?
Be a little wary with these as when coming into breeding condition there will be a lot of dominant aggression and these are some of the most aggressive of all Corys. In their main tank I would advise plenty of cover and a good open space.

Re: Mimics, lineages and chance of hybridization
There are many species that at certain times of the year are found together, whether these species breed in the same locations is to a degree unknown. There are as we know a number on mimics i.e. C. opapoquensis/C. condisciplus, C. imitator/C. adolfoi/C. serratus, C. seussi/C. gossei. I have never s...

Re: Dwarf Cory confusion: Habrosus or Hastatus?
They are not accidentally mixed, exporters deliberately call all three species C. hastatus, because they command a better price and sell better. The trouble then occurs with some store keepers continuing with the error, and will often say "that's what they came as so they must be that fish"...

Re: Callichthyines, how many are there?
Excluding Corydoradinae there are officially 5 genera with 10 species and I would imagine that there will be population differences. The one example to come to mind would be Callichthys callichthys, those from Trinidad and those from mainland SA. There distribution supposedly goes as far south as Ur...

There are a number of people in the UK breeding the "Black" C. schultzii, but does not actually come from Venezuela. It was first developed in Germany some 10-12 years ago and is currently being bred commercially in the Czech Republic. It is continually erroneously called the "Venezue...

Have you checked the species page in the cat-elog it will at least give to the location from where the original described fish were collected and then a little trip into google maps will tell you if the rivers you are looking at are in the same area.

Re: ID "spotted" corydora
Many people believe that catfish, or in particular Loricariidae and Corydoradinae are algae eaters, some loricariidae are pure vegetarian but others are pure meat eaters, so giving them all the same diet will cause long term problems. Corys are not vegetarian they are omnivores and mainly feed on mi...

I have seen these quite often on Cory fins, I think they are a form of Flagellate.
A little salt will usually get rid of them.

The whole image has a green cast to it, making the fish difficult to be sure. for CW009 the stripe is bright metalic green. CW010 (gold laser) has olive colored fins and a golden yellow to orange stripe. There is a comparison image here

CoryfanAad,
Sorry not good advice to feed Corys high protein foods unless young growing fry.
Feed quality commercial food by all means but not the high protein types that are made for Discus and the like. live or frozen foods are good especially Daphnia.

It looks more like C. agassizii in that image, the problem is there are 3 or 4 species from the same location that look similar and as they grow the patterns change which adds even more confusion.

Re: Black Corydoras Schultzei schooling behavior
The reason most fish 'shoal' together is in defense of possible predatory activity. Also it is a numbers thing. To me 6 fish would not constitute a 'shoal' nor would they react as such. A larger group 20 or 30 would make up a small 'shoal'. However in a safe environment the instinct to group togethe...

I will come back in on this discussion and add my 2pence worth. The colour patterns of mature specimens of both species is very...
