Re: synodontis I’d help
thats why I did not chime in.I would say it's probably a hybrid, something like Synodontis sp_hybrid(4). Very pretty and clean looking. What it's back story / origin?

I am with Eric on the fasting, not to worried if they miss a few days. Most glass cats, I have experience with the African varieties can get stressed. If you see them staying near the bottom just kind of shimmying you have a problem that needs to be addressed quickly or you will start losing them one...

A natural color variant A farm made color variant In this case it is Xanthism (An animal which is yellow or golden in color. This may happen in nature or through selective breeding.)They will still have dark eyes...so similar to Albino which everyone knows. The nigrita has been spawned for awhile b...

I suggest dont use that designation until not just you, but certain others are absolutely sure.
L144 is confusing enough for most, without adding to the confusion.

As far as I know they are a farm made color variant.I think gold nigrita are a natural color variant, but I'm not 100% sure. That would explain why you're not seeing them in this thread, which is only about hybrids.

Holy cow! Congratulations! They parasitized the Aulonocara? Are there other species in the tank? Cheers, Eric Eric, I have pulled them from cichlids with cichlid eggs as well, they certainly do parasitize the cichlid eggs, sucking the yolk to a shriveled husk and then go for the fry.I have photos s...

My suggestion is to put them in the established 29 gal.take the current BN out though. at least a trio of claro, one male 2 females...or more. The dominant male will protect a cave from the start.I use a upsidedown flower pot dish at 3 inch diameter. They are a great little fish and you do not have t...

Re: Just want my Syndontis to get along
To be honest the larger group the better with petricola and lucipinnis, your rocks are perfect I would add more leaving a nice stretch of sand along the front.
Blood parrots would be a bad choice with these as there are many good choices in the rift lakes.

They are not great in a group, especially the females as they get larger, they will rip each other apart. The largest tank possible is always best for these....the 265 mentioned sounds perfect.

I think a selection of caves is more important than one cave that is very specific in size and material

Re: 29 gallon catfish possibilities (microglanis iheringi?)
As far as Synodontis the only one I would say is suitable for your tank and what you want is the Synodontis nigriventris...better in groups, alright as a single. The smaller Microsynodontis are also a possibility.Very solitary but a hoot during feeding time.

You are better to consider a group of the same species, a mixed bag of different plecos is just that,a group of the same species has more interesting interaction among the members.

Re: Syno Eggs
This species is not a cave spawner, it is thought to be a scatterer using bunches of plants to scatter eggs into.Your fish look to be both S. eupterus.
You shoud have tried to hatch out the eggs that you saw, mind you I would have expected large numbers of very small eggs.

Your petricola are of course lucipinnis. I used piles of river rock which they enjoyed swimming in and out of. The more cover they have the braver they are to come out.

you dont really want nigrita...they are big bullies and greedy feeders.
the picture you have above for nigriventris is the zebra kutu variant.
The regular nigriventris have a variety of colors and patterns.

Melanostictus have a different body shape in my eyes.
