Re: Synodontis pleurops nest

I think being congo synos they would be egg scatterers.A screen across the bottom with some plants such as anubias or any bunchplant on top of the screen should possibly work.the pebble idea sounds like it comes from lake tangy syno breeders.

I do not think they are either irsacae or ilebrevis.
Unless there is a change they would go on the list of unknowns.

For brichardi a 40.would be okay with plenty of river rock and current.also a large group of nigrivrntris is always good. THere are robertsi in NA too right now.

Re: Identify this mark or disease. Keeps going and coming.

The spot between the eyes is special AFAIK and what you observe, I believe, is normal. Doradids for instance have a light sensor spot between the eyes aka "third eye", that's actually responsible for many hormonal functions. IDK if it is the same in synos or most/all fish. synos have this...

Re: Jeff Rapps offering Bagrus meridionalis. Is it?

Victor I am thinking yes it is B. meridionalis.
.

Most smaller ones are more silvery with black spots but considering it has been kept for some time it may have matured some but stayed stunted.

6 to 8 inch should still be considered a baby.

Can we mix african and american cichlids???? I do not think that is a great idea...Central americans usually are quite fiesty and conditions needed can be quite different. As for African cichlids there is quite a variety of cichlids in Africa from many dfferent areas, I am assuming you are talking ...

Hi, yes I can take more photos. It has been residing in a tank of mixed Tanganyikans, I am quite sure it is a polli, it interacts with the other polli and has darkened considerably.

You will notice victor the spotting is different between the two threads, the fish in this thread I believe to be a. tanganicanus...the other has different spotting and could be an undescribed species considering the area it was exported from.

I believe this is a hybrid
not so sure on this, it is 20 or so years old. A mature ocellifer would have developed spots within its black spots, this one does not have that.
I can not ID without a better shot....

I currently have all three species, the only cory's I have.

Habrosus and pygmaeus are more similar in my experience.

C. hastatus is more of a mid water schoaling type fish.
