Re: Hoplosternum Punctatum Spawn!
Ive got a second spawn today.
Again, on a floating anubias leaf, and a cold front moved through last night. Seems to be the consistent factor.

Re: Corydoras Eques setup
Lovely tank, the fish are looking very happy. Are they emperor tetras you have in there with them? I was growing out some black emperor tetra fry in their tank, but they've been homed this week, so now it's ember tetras and boraras urophthalmoides as tankmates with them. I keep black emperors in on...

Re: Juvenile Farlowella ID
Okay. Maybe needs a little filling in and growing? Cheers, Eric An update on this dude... Hes grown quite a bit more, though hadn't been convinced to try prepared foods or veggies like my older ones. However. His weird belly schutes are changing and developing into a 3rd row! 20210401_203433.jpg So...

Spikes on male cory pectoral spine?
Was snapping some photos of my male black Venezuela corydoras and one photo focused on his pectoral fin spine.
I noticed bristles.
Never noticed this on cories.

Re: Hoplosternum Punctatum Spawn!
Theyve been started on fry foods, yolk sac is nearly gone and they've gotten mobile now. They got the little flappy fins, so cute. 20210329_233106.jpg Feeding Hikari First Bites and liquefied squished mealworm (sounds gross, but it has done me well with emperor tetra fry in the early days). See whic...

Re: Hoplosternum Punctatum Spawn!
Super exciting. Not enough people are working on Callichthyinae. Good luck with the fry. :-) Cheers, Eric Not enough people keep hoplos! They need to be more popular, honestly the best catfish I've had the pleasure of having. I'm surprised, because so many people love corydoras, these guys are so m...

Re: Hoplosternum Punctatum Spawn!
All the luck with them When I had H littorale in that stage, I was unable to get them te eat :( I'm waiting on the yolk sac to be more absorbed, then will get them started on infusoria and First Bites. So far okay, just feel really undeveloped and uncoordinated compared to cory fry. But I breed spa...

Re: Hoplosternum Punctatum Spawn!
The eggs are pretty big, compared to cory eggs, and very yellow. Ive put together that report as detailed as I could, if there's anything else I could add, let me know. My understanding is the reports of these guys spawning in captivity is kept quiet by the commercial breeders, so assuming that mean...

Re: Corydoras Eques setup
I like keeping some leaf litter in most my tanks, tannins are good for softwater fish especially and ive found that certain fish like Farlowella twigs naturally will graze on the leaf litter and it's an easy source of biofilm for them. So there's so many perks to leaf litter
