I never heard underfeeding results in apparentlyy too large fins for the tiny body

On the other hand, C longipinnis ony has a big dorsalfin (the males) and no extended pectoral fins

Let's find out whether the esperts have a clue

So we have a good chance of getting to see a few wonderfull pics in a few months I know how you felt, a group of very intersing fishes (2 m, 4 f) is offered here, (Astaheros calobrensae, a CA eartheater, behaving just as Geophagus) but I don't habve place for them, and no room for another big tank. ...

@ Matt,

I'm afraid I kept it too short - if a fish needs to hide, hiding places must be provided.

Tose hiding places will have to be constructed of something, and therefore replace water

I think Platydoras gets far too big - mine are 20 cm, 5 cm from left to right, and 3 - 4 cm from top to bottom (depending on when they ate last) without measuring the fins As they need to hide - and thus need shelter, I'd say your tank is large enough for a Platydoras - if you take out all oth...

Regardless what kind of buffer you intend to use, almost all have side effects. I do not know whether you are a chemist (I am) or studied pharmacy, but if twice no, I'd recommend not to start with the project You may dislike peat, but it is by far the best (frankly the only) solution for your proble...

Nice idea - as the walls are thin, the caves do their job, without pushing out too muich water.

However, PVC is one of the very few plastic which do not float. Most other plastics would require the use of some rocks to keep te cave on the bottom

Most likely they are PVC - especially if you were able to glue them with PVC glue. That stuff soes not glue anything else, that is, I never found anything which I could glue with PVC glue. It certainly does not glue PPC (polypropylchloride) Polypropylene can not glued with anything, it can only be c...

Breeding sturiosoma

Today my Sturiosoma male spawned again - the third time. The eggs are on the frons window, the darkest place in the tank, with also the most current (near the innerfilter) All previous attempts went wrong, I think due to the convict cich lids in the tank. Now I wonder, could I remouve the eggs just ...

The only reason why i will not BBQ any of my fish, is that I'm allergic to eating it

Look at it this way: If you can provide a fish a good life, untill it reaches a foot of length, but ikt keeps growing, you better eat it, after killing it paiinlesly, than let it suffer

They come fron South America, mostly imoported from Colombia

They are not agressive, but quite busy, and like each others company. Thus it's best to either give it a few mates, or return is.

They are also friendly to humans, at least they never said anything bad to me

I would be more inclined to believe the theory that stress levels in the fish lead to poor osmoregulatory regulation, loss of salts and the shrinking of tissues. Correct me if I'm wrong but the lost salts are extracellulair salts, thus the cells themselves keep their salt. Thus, asuming the same am...
