So we have a good chance of getting to see a few wonderfull pics in a few months I know how you felt, a group of very intersing fishes (2 m, 4 f) is offered here, (Astaheros calobrensae, a CA eartheater, behaving just as Geophagus) but I don't habve place for them, and no room for another big tank. ...

I think Platydoras gets far too big - mine are 20 cm, 5 cm from left to right, and 3 - 4 cm from top to bottom (depending on when they ate last) without measuring the fins As they need to hide - and thus need shelter, I'd say your tank is large enough for a Platydoras - if you take out all oth...

Regardless what kind of buffer you intend to use, almost all have side effects. I do not know whether you are a chemist (I am) or studied pharmacy, but if twice no, I'd recommend not to start with the project You may dislike peat, but it is by far the best (frankly the only) solution for your proble...

Most likely they are PVC - especially if you were able to glue them with PVC glue. That stuff soes not glue anything else, that is, I never found anything which I could glue with PVC glue. It certainly does not glue PPC (polypropylchloride) Polypropylene can not glued with anything, it can only be c...

I've had Microglanis three times now, currently I have a few I collected in Uruguay (thus not available in trade, due to very expensive flight, hardly any wildcought Uruguayan fish is sold in shops)which I see almost always. Both earlies attempts at enjoying Microglanis went wrong, because I never, ...

if a 125g will drop 1.5 ph in a week it could possibly kill all my c*****ds which would be very bad lol. Here I disagreee. I predict you, the frontosa will go firs, the Jack second, and the oscar? The oscar will be happy to finally have good water. This is, the frontosa wants pH 8 (and is sensitive...

Breeding sturiosoma
Today my Sturiosoma male spawned again - the third time. The eggs are on the frons window, the darkest place in the tank, with also the most current (near the innerfilter) All previous attempts went wrong, I think due to the convict cich lids in the tank. Now I wonder, could I remouve the eggs just ...

as the firemouths are cich lids, thus off topic, I will not go into them - go to http://www.cichlidae.com/forum/index.php for them. However, I worry a bit about your ammonia. 0-0,25 does mean more than 0, and thus a little is aroumd However pH 9 is not good for any south american fish, not for the W...

As I'm use3d to the metric system, I stick to cm per liter.ranmasan wrote:inch per gallon ratio
Actually, this allows quite a lot more fish in the same tank (4/2.5 times as much, approx)

When I installed a tank (300 liters) with internal filter (2500 l/hr, 38 watts) I had, just as you, not expected to see the temperature raise However, a submerged pump has no other coise than to give all excess heat to the water, and all energy used to displace the water will due to friction result ...

I would be more inclined to believe the theory that stress levels in the fish lead to poor osmoregulatory regulation, loss of salts and the shrinking of tissues. Correct me if I'm wrong but the lost salts are extracellulair salts, thus the cells themselves keep their salt. Thus, asuming the same am...
