HI Balaji There is a STUNNING black specimen represented (as O.horae IFIRC) in the book, "The Ornamental Aquarium Fish of India". I don't have the book unfortunately. If this is the book by KIshori Lal Tekriwal & Andrew Arunava Rao. ? Beware:- IMHO this book is not a good example to id...

Re: New Arrivals - Glyptothorax siamensis
These are P shawi, although they are tiny (20-25mm SL) and look like they have been out competed for food by the other Pseudolaguvia in the tank. They are housed in a tank with some E jerdoni; and at the moment they are being fed live grindal worms, micro worms and newly hatched brine shrimp. All th...

Re: New Arrivals - Glyptothorax siamensis
The Glyptothorax siamensis I have really settled in nicely; and are feeding well. Neil, those small lighter coloured catfish in with the 'Pseudolaguvia' have the look of young P shawi. The first set of photo's I took was not to clear as they kept trying to bury themselves in the sand. I have taken s...

I had four of these a few years ago housed with some mothcats and some anabantoids, they never showed any signs of aggression and kept to staying under the same piece of bogwood together during the daytime only coming out to feed. Re: What type of catfish is this?
The best option for you would be to feed it live foods first & foremost; such as daphnia, grindal worms and bloodworms, and do not feed any commercial foods, until the catfish is looking healthy and in good condition. It is best to isolate your catfish in a hospital tank. That way you can feed h...

I was thinking it was either yarrelli or Sp (1) in the Cat e log. Most importantly I was hoping to find out if it is the Indian or Indochinese species since all the Bagarius I've seen are either from Thailand or Indonesia . I think Silurus is the best one to comment on this, as he is located in you...

I think that the catfish in question is more likely to be H regani than H margaritifer.

H margaritifer comes from the 'Upper Paraná River' drainage in Brazil. Your spec...

One thing to throw into the mix here, regarding catchment area. H margaritifer and H regani was seperated by waterfalls along the river Parana, with H margaritifer being found above the falls and H regani below; however, In the later half of the last century due to water courses being changed by man...

Re: Identification of Aspidoras
HI Juan IMHO I think your Aspidoras are closer to C036. Without knowing from what source your Aspidoras originally came from it would be wrong to guess if they are hybrids or just 'sports' from their breeding. Like I said before there are a few Aspidoras species that are variable in themselves and w...

Re: Identification of Aspidoras
HI Juan The problem with some of the Aspidoras species is that they can vary quite a lot from specimen to specimen, and can make positive identification of some species difficult to say the least. IMHO Photo one resembles to me, to be more like A rochai, than A fuscoguttatus. Like wise your photo of...
