Re: CW021

Hi,

as far as I know there is no assured location of CW021 in the wild. Probably Columbia, and maybe the Río Meta system, as CW021 could turn out as a variant of Corydoras axelrodi.

Re: Hypancistrus debilittera vs L340

Hi, the only way to distinguish between these two is the number of tooth. H. debilittera has more tooth than L 340. L 340 has 5 or 6 tooth per "Prämaxillare" (Don´t know the english word) and H. debilittera has 9 to 12. Furthermore L 340 has 5 or 6 tooth per "Dentale" and H. debi...

Re: how many clown loach and what size?

That doesn't sound like a good tank to add clown loaches to. That doesn´t sound like a good tank at all to me. Reminds me of a chowder. Ten different species, from different regions of the world, with partial totally different manners of behaviour. The tank itself is really nice (If I am right that...

Re: Laser catfish pregnant, a male? Unsure

Hi, a little bump between her pectorial fins Corydoras normally don´t "store" their eggs in this region. And if you have this single Corydoras for weeks now, I don´t believe in eggs. She is the only laser cory in my tank The only Corydoras as well? and I don't think fish inter-breed, do th...

Re: L600? Male or female?

Hi,

this is a Pseudacanthicus leopardus, a female. Due to the peaked head and the wide belly.
L 600 just doesn´t exist, no matter how often it is used.

Re: L129 or L199?

I agree with H. furunculus, but maybe it would be better if everybody who id´s a fish supports his opinion and explains why this is not H. debilittera in this case. In fact H. furunculus is very easy to identify because of the very short head in comparison to other Hypancistrus.

Though they look a bit like what is in the clog as Apistoloricaria ommation ? Agree. They seem to have very long barbels and the head shape looks like the one Apistoloricaria have. If you have the option to compare the barbels of the fish it is pretty easy to differentiate between the two genera. C...

Re: Chocolate Whiptail

Hi, I think you refer to Hemiloricaria lanceolata . This species is very easy to keep, omnivore but tends towards a herbivor diet. No special water needs. Caught it many times myself in Bolivia. Mostly hanging around in the limbs of trees which had been fallen into the water. http://www.l-welse.com/...

Re: few pics of my leopard cory

Tha cory can be called either Corydoras Trilineatus or leopard cory !!! Correct. But it would be great if scientific names could be used, if existing. That would make life much easier. All those common names are irritating. Lots of the fish have more than only one, by the way. A good example is the...

Re: Pimelodus tetramerus: Loss of barbels

Hi you two, I think your water quality went down the hatch caused by using feeders, then the bad water quality caused both a nitrite spike killing your biggest fish (the bloated belly's a give away) and the growth of the wrong kind of bacteria; and that bad water quality is now causing loss of whisk...

Re: Pimelodus tetramerus: Loss of barbels

When the one died, there was a Acanthicus adonis with them in the tank (200 litres). But it is is completely harmless against the Pimelodus. Since a week the Acanthicus is in an other tank.

Pimelodus tetramerus: Loss of barbels

Hi, three months ago I got 6 Pimelodus tetramerus , quite a rare catfish. Two weeks ago I lost one, the biggest one. I couldn´t figure out the reason for its death, but the belly was really huge. So I guess this could be the reason, the night before I fed them with fish. Maybe he ate to much. Yester...
