I would have to think the wet weight of the food plays a factor. What percentage body weight of a nematode is water? If it's something like 80% then we are talking only 47.6 mg dry weight.
But I have no idea what a nematodes moisture content is.

It's likely a pardalis but you need to look on the belly to be really sure.

When it rains it pours.
Went in yesterday morning with the flashlight and found a dozen more fry that were slightly smaller than the first group. Must have had a second male sitting on eggs in the tank somewhere.

Welcome to PlanetCatfish. My family doesn't live too far from you (Lewes). Before you go to your local store you may want to consider going to CatCon in Herndon, VA. It's a month away and there will be a huge selection of catfish (including many corys) available for sale. Definitely worth the drive ...

Pulled out 14 babies (probably a couple more hiding in the tank) and put them in the net breeder. Saw them munching on some Repashy this morning.

Re: Pull them out or leave them in?
Thanks. I do have some breeder boxes and nets available. I think I may do the net box. Nothing will bother them and it will give the best waterflow.
Appreciate the advice.

Pull them out or leave them in?
In what seems like forever, I finally had my first uncommon pleco spawn. Was feeding fish last night and found a bunch of L333 babies in the tank. The tank is a 30 breeder with just the L333 and some Corydoras semiaquilis in the tank. There is a decent amount of caves and driftwood in the tank for c...

Well it is certainly good news for those who love those fish. But I wouldn't be so quick to chastise those who believed in the ban happening. It wasn't revealed that the ban on these species would not be enforced until April 27th. 3 days before the collection ban was to go into effect. Nothing like ...

Some formulas are better than others. Grub pie smells pretty nasty to me. Fruut Luups on the other hand, I would consider tasting. It really does smell like the cereal.

Re: I tried Repashy food, and now I think I might be getting divorced
I mix mine up in old yogurt containers. Then I just stick it in the fridge and let it set (with the lid on). I take the container out and use a spoon to scoop out what I need to feed. 1/2 cup of food into the container followed by 1.5 cups of boiling water. Stir until evenly mixed with a spoon. That...

Re: Attaching acrylic to glass
I use silicone to glue the acrylic strips in to hold my mattenfilters and that has worked pretty well. You do need to use thicker acrylic so that you have a larger bonding surface. I used 3/16" thick material. Household Goop also works well bonding acrylic to glass, But it has more flow to it t...

Once acclimated, and well cared for they do pretty well. Sadly many do not make it through acclimation to aquarium. I had my group for 5 years before I lost them all to a parasite infection. Although they are one of my favorite plecos, I won't keep them again as I don't think I can take the heartach...

I totally agree with you. The tools are cheap junk.
But the tile saw only cost me $19.99. It's still running well too.
I would have to go through 5 of them before it would equal the cheapest one at Home Depot.

Re: Is flagstone safe for aquarium decor and cave making?
Yes. I use it all the time. I drill holes in it, run stainless steel screws through and use it to weight down wood I collect from the woods. I have also built a few caves with it but I found them too flimsy and easily broken compared to the terracotta ones and stopped using it for that. I also lean ...

Re: Would Centromochlus orca be an acceptable tank mate for Hypancistrus zebra?
I have actually had the opposite experience. For me, the woodcats would get into the cave first. And then the plecos would come in afterwards and strip their skin off. The woodcats couldn't escape as the pleco was blocking the exit. And the posterior of the woodcat is defenseless without any spines ...

Well sad to say that I can add to this list. Over the weekend, due to a heater malfunction, I lost my tank of zebra plecos. 6 fish @$200 ea. The picture is at an odd angle which is distorting the shape of the fish. Dekeyseria do not have that pattern on the face at all.

Re: Tiny white worms in water column after water change
They are free living nematodes. I see them in my shrimp tanks regularly. Small fish will eat them often. But shrimp and larger fish seem to ignore them. They are harmless. Vacuuming the substrate during water changes will help remove them and their food supply which will reduce the population to unn...

You seem to be very misinformed about how legalese works. The regulation went into effect when it was published in 2014. The implementation date of May for the end of catchments, and the June 30th date of end of export are within the regulation. Nobody is debating that they are not legal to export n...
