Re: How fast should a healthy pleco breathe?

I suppose as you say it might be an impossible question to answer. Let's use your run of the mill Bristlenose as baseline, how fast should a healthy Bristlenose breathe given suitable enviorment(ie temperature, aertion and no nitrite, ammonia). Well guess it might be one of those things that can't r...

How fast should a healthy pleco breathe?

Tried to google it, tried to search the forums here but can't really find a answer. Does it depend on species and size of the fish? When I see someone talking about their pleco breathing fast what does that mean? Sure I have seen stressed out breathing after a fight between plecos where the it seems...

Re: L397 species verification.

Reading through some old threads about the care of them and realise I should probably go on some wood hunt today, anybody wanna comment on if birch is a suitable type? Might be I can find some that's already in the water since I know there are beavers in a place quite close by. Of course as much as ...

Re: L397 species verification.

I have realised I posted in wrong forum section but alas it is what it is. Easy enough for me to fix. Done. Could this pic be of any help to possibly give a stronger indication? I have a really hard time catching good pics of them since they are pretty shy/skittish(they are out and about but not if...

Re: How often should i provide food for my L397 group?

Mine love the shrimp. I don't think it matters what kind, but I buy human-grade "white leg" shrimp, which is the most commonly available at my local grocery store. Also a note about the sweet potato - if your sweet potato is fresh, it will be wet an juicy when you cut it up with a peeler....

Re: How often should i provide food for my L397 group?

Thanks again, hopefully they turn out to be legit L397(or atleast some other verifiable species) still didn't have opportunity to take good pictures but ill probably harass you with them sooner rather than later! ;) Not that I really have any reason to doubt the seller but who knows about the one he...

Re: How often should i provide food for my L397 group?

Ill make sure to have the veggies in there for a bit longer then! :) I feed the tetras shrimp/wafers occasionally(I suspect some of it is there fir the plecos to take later) and green beans for the plecos at times do you believe I still need to up their protein intake?

Thanks!

How often should i provide food for my L397 group?

So got these 10 days ago and feels like they have finally settled somewhat, I even see some of them out and about in the tank once in a while, they are quite small(1.5 or 2 inches maybe). I have 6 of them in a furnished 65 gallon community tank a long with a smallish bristlenose(will move to new cyc...

Re: L397 species verification.

The photos are not really sufficient, but superficially I'd say it's possible. How large are the fish? Can we get a close up photo of the facial pattern and fins? Cheers, Eric Will try, they are small, around an inch or so maybe a tad bit larger. Guess I will just have to fish a couple of them up o...

Are these L397? Hard to get better pictures since they are in a furnished tank.

Re: Very pale L397

When you get the photo, it will be easier to comment. In the meantime, I have one or two L397 who are always lighter than others. But they are not different sizes. The small size of your fish, combined with the off-coloration, might indicate a chronic issue which is stunting growth and affecting we...

Very pale L397

So I am gonna try to get a picture of it asap but it's hiding(duh). Got it and 5 others home just 3 days ago and the rest seems to have fine coloration and look happy/healthy, this one? Not so much it's almost sand colored and noticeably smaller than 4 of the rest(one more is roughly the same size b...
