Small catfish for an unheated tank

I am looking foor a small catfish for a Unheated tank.
I Know hara jerdoni is possible, but I've read they don't adapt to dry foods.
Coorydoras palaetus is also possible, but are there more specie's with a max size of 7cm that are suitable for unheated tanks ?

of the 7 cm may increase to 10 cm, you could keep Rhineloricaria sp Rio Chacamax, from Uruguay. I've bred them, they are fo sale @ VKC in Woudneberg, NL, and kept them in winter @ 5 C. 30 C in summer is no problem either.

These fish are rather quiet, I think any tank suitable for Corydoras paleatus would suit them nicely too

Further I am trying to get a shipment of fish, amongst them catfish, from Uruguay to NL. If this succeeds, they would arrive in April or early May

Any fish from Uruguay is suited for an unheated tank, as winter in the north is ~ 18 C

See if Mystus carcio, Amblyceps or Olyra fit your bill. Mystus carcio especially is a much unappreciated yet fun fish to keep. Small loaches like Schistura or small barbs like Oreicthys would complete the setup.

Most Noturus species would fit the bill if you can find one where you live. Especially Noturus gyrinus.

Is Akysis also posssible in a unheated tank ?

i have kept Akysis in the past and they will do fine in an unheated tank as long as the room the tank is in is heated. your problem will be keeping the tank cool enough during summer. i lost all of mine during a hot period in summer, sadly.

but i guess you can cool the tank down with pc fans or something if you're up to that.

a few years back and they were fairly easy to maintain. I think your only problem will be feeding as I am not sure if they take readily to processed food. I was lucky as I had a supply of blood/tubifex worms throughout the year.

in the Netherlands summers can get for a few days in a row above 30 C. That's rather mild to you, I think, but our houses are build to keep any heat inside - and during such a period the inhouse temperature can reach 35 C

Tanks, having 300 l of water or less, will go to 35 C water temperature, or more, easily. More as the lights and pump will increase the water temperature even further.

We do have to take actions to prevent the water from reaching over 35 C in such a period - and not all fishes can have this

That is very pleasant for me actually.

I was able to maintain the tank temperature between 24 C - 27 C with the use of multiple fans. While the temperature seems less than ideal, one specimen even became gravid (nevertheless, I do not recommend anything above 25 C for these fish in the long run).
