New here, and I'm definitely not a catfish expert - long story, but I just came into possession of several catfish needing a new home and I'm trying to figure out exactly what they are so I can figure out what they need in terms of a proper home. Two fish, one looks something like P. pictus but is 20+ cm TL; the other is a little smaller with a bold lateral stripe (photos attached).
If it helps, the remainder of the fish from the group are maybe slightly exotic, but not overly obscure - sun cat, some kind of pleco, FW angel, couple African cichlids (i.e. I don't think the previous owner was in the business of collecting SUPER exotic fish).
Poor fishes have had a rough week, and would appreciate any advice you have to offer...

Re: ID two different pimelodids?
The one with the lateral stripe has a black spot at the front base of the dorsal fin and I think belongs to the Pimelodus blochii group within the genus, I wanna say it looks like tetramerus.
The other with the spots has me stumped. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. It reminds me of maculatus but I think maculatus has more or less even rows of spots. This guy's spots seem random.
I'll link a recent related thread here where a question had been posited about maculatus: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=46112#p311424

Huh. Super interesting - thanks!
Presumably the same basic care needs as blochii, I suppose. I hope whatever it is doesn't end up getting totally huge!
