How does this differ from L399/400?

A youngster of L66 probably no larger than 5-6 cm SL, this is not L173.
And Haavard, why shall you always put questions like that?
Body shape is similar but differ slightly on the headshape (in adults)... but the absolutely easiest way is: the perfect even stripes in their fins that only L66 has but not L399/400 ;)

Thanks. I'll have a look to see if it can "make it" in the L066 images. It is a pretty good image tho', so there's a chance.

That sounds like the kind of character you'd see on a dichotomous key. That's quite helpful.Janne wrote:but the absolutely easiest way is: the perfect even stripes in their fins that only L66 has but not L399/400 ;)

Re: Hypancistrus ID for Cat-eLog.
I've added that key to the L066 entry.
Of course, what we REALLY need is the ability to enter these keys in a way that we can build a nice ID application, and the user enters/selects the answers to each question and ends up with a concrete answer.
