Is my last name Batrachus?
One of the small, seasonal ponds on my property overheated and almost dried up yielding a miriad of little cichlids, bass minnows, and guppies and killies etc. and several dozen catfish - hoplos and walking cats. Is this Clarius batrachus?

Re: Is my last name Batrachus?
Thanks, HH. This is the best I could do so far. Should I keep trying?

Re: Is my last name Batrachus?
They are gangsters and terrorists. Had 5 in a 55 gal first. After they adjusted in a few days (having almost suffocated in a 100 F pond, scratched up, then having spent 30 min in a potassium permanganate solution - had to kill at least external parasites), the two larger ones started chasing the three smaller ones. Next morning, one of the smaller ones was quite beat up/bitten up, so the three smaller ones went into a 30 gal. Next morning, the one that was beat up good was barely alive from 10 times more bite wounds. He passed on. Next morning, one of the smaller ones was beat up/bitten up good, so the other one smaller one, the offender, had to go back with the 2 larger ones. They chase him all day long but he is strong enough to keep swimming away from them. They've been like that a couple of weeks now, all eating and looking ok, despite the constant chasing. As soon as pellets hit the water, they go into a vigorous feeding frenzy, really, nothing short of that. Very energetic fish. One larger one found a weak spot in the cover and got out one night. Probably spent a few hours on the floor. Got a bit dry, thrown back in the tank, two days later he was the usual. Amazing fish. Resourceful survivalists.

These are indeed C. batrachus (or at least one of the unnamed species thought to be C. batrachus).
