Mystus atrifasciatus? Need ID confirmation, please.
Asking for a peer, per https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/foru ... sh.708649/
This fish is currently available from Jeff Rapps and has been ID'ed by Jeff as atrifasciatus. What do you think? Confirm or refute please. To me it looks close but the difference in the arch of the rear half of the fish's back and in the adipose fin throws me off.

Have any more photos? I do not think this is M. atrifasciatus.

Thank you Shane so much. The photo is from Jeff Rapps online catalog, with his permission. It is all we have to go by to check his ID. Probably can request more - AquaAlex would have to do it as this is his request and primary interest.
I too doubt Jeff's ID but not because I know Mystus whatsoever but because these are very hard to ID right and such catfish are not Jeff's expertise.

Jeff has written to me that Jools is the person that saw these fish in person and had told Jeff that this was the correct ID of said fish. After that Jeff changed the name on his stock list as per Jools' information provided.

That was perhaps the ID Shane and I made when we were with Jeff in DC? I can't recall another.

Ahh, now this comes back to me. Jools and I looked at these fish together and that was the best identification we could come up with. Still not sure it is 100% correct, but it is probably safe to use. Safest identification might be cf. atrifasciatus.
An awesome Mystus regardless.

Thank you Jools and Shane so very much. I am glad the tentative ID came from such high level and that it is confirmed as it had stood.
You happy, Alex??
