I'm having a problem with breeder update.

Post by pointpleco »

Hi,

I have started a breeder log for my L134's. It lets me do the initial report but when i come back to it and try to make extra updates it doesn't save them. Is anyone else having this problem.

Thanks

I've experienced it too a while ago, but I thought it was fixed.

Ok, maybe it is doing the same problem again. I type it in and add new things, then save and then go to breeder log and it has all vanished. It doesn't even save the photo upload.
Either way i'm sure it will get looked at eventually, i can do it at any stage.

Thanks

Understood. Unfortunately, Jools is the only qualified programmer on this site, and he has plenty to do already. He does an amazing job of keeping this updated, but it is a never-rest dilemma.

Happy New Years, Eric

Yes, i'm sure it's hard to keep on top of everything on here, keep fish and also run a busy life. All is understood and when it's working fine is all good. Never a rush at all.

Have a good new years, macrae

It could be data related and so, depending on what data exists or is being input, depends on who sees what error. I will have a look into it. Sorry for the hassle.

I can see what is causing the problem now, a recent upgrade has caused the page to require size values for all the fry and juveniles as they develop. This is meant to be optional and mandatory.

I've not at least put error messages in red text to alert the user to the problem, but I need to do more work to make it work the way it should.

Hi Jools,

Happy new year, and like Eric said no need to be sorry.
But yes i do see the red alerts coming up showing that fry sizes at certain weeks and months is needed.
At this stage i only found a random egg, so i didn't have any other fry info.
I tried to keep the egg in a breeder net with a air stone, but it turned white and furry after originally being yellow.
So obviously they kicked it out, but i'm hoping there is more in one of the caves. I'm just being cautious and not shining lights in and scaring them.
I will be really happy if there is more in a cave as i have never spawned L134's and i have only had them just over a month.
One in a cave next to where i found the egg has a fish in there and he seems to be moving around just can't see if he is fanning. But fingers crossed.

Thanks Macrae

All this is now fixed and tested heavily. You can now leave the sizes as zero, but if you do enter a size it is now validated to check it is within the range specified for the age of the fish.

Three days of hacking away at this one, I don't think it ever could have worked right but now it does.

Cheers,

Hi mate, ok that does sound very good. Nice that it knows what the fish should be at the specific age.
So it will even know that the fish is possibly stunted or growing slowly.

Thanks

No worries, yes, average data will show percentile growth so, over time, we'll build up a picture of a "normal" growth rate assuming folks fill in the data with a degree of accuracy.

A very good idea, thanks for the continuing work. It’s what makes this page so good.
