Well, the current plan is to leave at 8AM, with a 4h30 drive to get there, so around 12.30 is the "ideal" arrival time. Undoubtedly, it will take a little bit longer, as there will be some traffic about and I will probably stop at least once, just to stretch the legs a bit and such. I said in one of the first posts that I'd be there before 2PM.

I have a query about the C. sp punctatus you picked up. Do you know if they were the true species from Suriname. I ask because the image shown looks more like the species CW039 from the Madre de Dios in Peru. At the moment C. punctatus is high on my hit list.

I don't think anyone purchased the C.punctatus - the list of fish were those that were seen (well, at least remembered as being available), so it may be worth sending a PM to Neil to see if he can help.

I don't think any of us actually got the punctatus - in my post earlier in the thread, i was recording things of interest for those unable to make it on the day. They were labelled punctatus 'super' & it struck me the fine body spotting was accurate for the species in relation to the size of the specimens (approx 28mm). The pic in my earlier post is just a link to the cat-e-log page.

I have no clue about origin - so you'd have to speak to Neil - the pic you have posted shows far fewer body spots than those seen - are these smaller fish or is the density & size of spots typical regardless of size?

Hi Richard,

The image I have posted is of a pair of adult C. punctatus the picture from the catalog is definitely of the undescribed species CW039. The spots are a lot smaller but the main visual difference being there are distinct vertical bars in the caudal of C. punctatus

After a little more checking there is another similar species from the Rio Uruara in the state of Amazonas, this has the number CW037

I need to understand this better, are you saying that the pictures in the Cat-eLog of

Corydoras punctatus

(where the first picture says "Collected in French Guyana", which isn't quite Suriname, but at least not a thousand miles "wrong"). The other three pictures look similar to me. And they look different from both CW039 and CW037: The tail is clearly striped, similar to the picture of the pair that you posted.

I am by no means saying you are wrong - you are a much better expert on corys than I am, but I'd like to understand what we are talking about here.

And after writing all that, I get the idea that the whole discussion is about what the fish in the shop were, rather than what is in the Cat-eLog - if that's the case, just say so, and accept my apologies for being daft.

They are labelled as this in the tank?
I cant get fish from French Guyana .
The Megalonema platycephalum was the fish in the top tank .
Not Piranampus ... I like them ..Very Blue !
