L333 Demeanor

Post by vriesea »

To all :) :

I will be obtaining seven L333s (3 males, 4 females)in the near future. I am planning to place them in a 70 gallon tank and provide a good food source before I try to breed them. The tank will have plenty of cones and PVC for isolation. I am concerned about aggression. I assume L333s are territorial.

Will seven L333s in the tank distribute the aggression and lessen the chance of one being killed.

What has been your experience grouping L333s together in the same tank?

Thanks,
Vriesea

Hi Vriesea,

I've had 5 L333 in a 100l tank without any problems. They are not very agressive, as long as you have enough caverns (mainly occupied by the males, more than fish) and some additional hiding places for the females.

I wouldn't expect any problems.

Karmas88:

Thanks for the good information :D . I will make sure all the males have a breeding cave.

i'm in agreement with kamas88.

Hypancistrus are generally peaceful providing there is enough hiding places.

Seven fish in a 70g tank sounds fine to me.

Good luck with them.

:D
