A quick question. I noticed that some of my cories are flashing against the really fine sand that I have as the tank substrate. I can’t tell if they have Ich specks or if they are getting sand on their body. Regardless, I am wondering if you can let me know the safest way to deal with a possible Ich outbreak. I have Kordon rid-Ich that works really well with my goldfish but I am not sure If it’s safe with cories who don’t have scales. Thank you in advance.

I've never tried Kordon Rid-Ich on corys, at least not in recent memory, but I've found good old-fashioned Nox-Ich to be perfectly safe with corys.

Here are the ingredients for Ich-X: For Aquarium: Water, Formaldehyde (<5%), Methanol (<2%), Malachite Green Chloride (<0.1%)
Here are the ingredients for Rid-Ich Plus (their current version of rid ich): contains 4.26% of formalin and 0.038% of zinc-free chloride salt of malachite green.
While I can refer you to a review paper on more Ich treatment than you can imagine. Formalin and malachite green are still considered the most effective treatments as far as i can tell. I used to use Quick Cure by Mardel. it contains the same two ingredients. I am not sure it is still made and I have inquired with Fritz to let me know the status.
Edited to add this info: Here are the ingredients for Nox-ich:
So instead of Formalin they use salt.
What is most interesting about these three drugs which essentially contain the same ingredients is that the dosing/treatment directions are different for them.
That Ich article tells how the treatment was administered, at what life stage it was able to kill the ich if it was an effective treatment. There are lot of ineffective treatments covered as well as ones which do work. here is the link to the paper: [url]http://dspace.stir.ac.uk/bitstream/1893 ... ew.pdf[url]]
