forum menu bar hidden in firefox

Post by snowball »

This happened in the last few days, and only in firefox, however I am not aware of having made any changes to my system.

The second menu bar is still there, just not really accessible. you can see the highlighted bar under the shane's world link (although the mouse cursor didn't appear in the screen grab).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I can get around it by using ie or by moving the mouse incredibly slowly, but it's somewhat annoying when I want to do a quick forum search or go to my inbox.

I use firefox and it works fine, so it must be some sort of environment issue. What version of firefox, what operating system and what screen and window size?

I had the same here; it got that way when I used the adblock plugin to get rid of that awful slowloading goooooogle ad and the flashthings.

I couldn't get rid of either plugin, so I had to resort to uninstall FF and reinstall the latest version, without the adblocker; works fine again.

but better not use adblock, or the bar goes AWOL again.

Ah, yeah, it will be the adblocker - it's not designed for that to work gracefully.

It wasn't us (the ads generate cash towards our running costs, so we ain't gonna spend time on problems blocking them), it was the latest version of firefox I think.

upon further investigation it appears to be the google syndication script (or lack thereof) that was causing the problems, not adblock.

anyway it's all good now and I can still see the ads up top :) (although it would be nice if they opened in a new window/tab)
