Hi Sammi. I, too, find that most of my Corys begin spawning at 12 to 14 months. - Frank

Sammi,
The C. sterbai will grow fast. If you bought them at about 1 inch size they will finsih growing fast. Feed them all the live worms you can and as much as they want. I use California Blackworms. FYI: My personal experience is that they tend to be somewhat seasonal spawners. Mine start about the first of October and wind things down by April.
Perhaps coinciding with their spawning period in the wild.
I can trigger spawns from the C. aeneus and C. paleatus year around but C. sterbai are not quite fully domesticated as these other two are. So next fall you should have fairly large young adults raring to go.
Frequent water changes and plentiful supply of blackworms, white worms and/or Grindal worms will do the trick. They also enjoy treats of live newly hatched brineshrimp once in awhile. I also feed the, earthworm based pellet and flake foods for convenience and to assure a balanced diet. These formulations incorporate spirulina, shrimp meal, vitamins and minerals lacking in a live worm only diet. I also feed them frozen bloodworms but when it's time to spawn them live worms will make it easy.
