Worried n00b , been sold a pl*co and told its coldwater ?

What is it ???? its currently in a tank with 3 Black Moor goldfish, is this ok ????

I dont know much about fish but the guy at the pet store said it would be fine in coldwater and lives on the algae ????? but its abrand new tank , will there be enough for him to eat ?

Dont want him to die

he's very young

It's a Bornean hillstream loach.

In the last 3 hours he has died

He seems to have an eye missing too, he had both earlier

Could the Celestial Eye, Black Moor or the Fantail Gold Moor that he was with have killed him ? I only got all them 2 days ago, should I call the pet store and tell them ? the guy assured me they would all be fine together!

This sucks , I didnt do anything to make this happen

I think it's more likely the fish died and then had the eye eaten out of the carcass.
I suspect it's more of a water thing. Hillstream loaches require very well-oxygenated water. Keep them only if you can provide either a very well-oxygenated tank or one with a strong current (preferably both). Of course, because of their natural habitat, they are also sensitive to water quality and this may have been what did it in (goldfish are pooping machines after all).

Your tank is still going to go through the cycling process with your existing goldfish Agent69. Obviously you can't trust your LFS to provide you with adequate information to keep your fish healthy, so you're going to want to do some reading in preparation BEFORE any additional shopping endeavors. How large is your tank? How often do you feed? You have a couple choices, you can either read articles on cycling your new aquarium HERE or you can go out and shop for a product marketed by Marineland called BioSpira. It is the only bacteria culture that I've ever seen that is actually effective at jump starting a biological filter to digest the waste your fish put off. Hope this helps.

That's sad news!!! It was indeed a Pseudogastromyzon cheni. I would tend to agree with the comments made, it could have been the cycle, if you water wasn't done cycling when you put the fish in, it's a very sensitive fish to water quality. Otherwise, if you don't have lots of oxygen, it may have caused the death.

Hi!

Well I guess before looking for what it is, we shall search for where does it come from, what South American exportator send it and where they caught it if it is a wild specimens and if it is a pond bred specimens what species was( were) involved...
