Need tips from anyone who kept ALBINO Sterbai

Post by NEONCORY »

Hi. I need any tips from anyone who kept ALBINO STERBAI. Also would love to hear about the experience of breeding them.

Any tips of getting them, acclimate them, raising them and breed them.
Since I would like to get some Albino and try since I can now say that I can breed and raise regular Sterbai.(some of the ealiest frys finally reach to 1/2"TL and 1/4"W and they finally look like miniature Sterbai)

I imagine Albino would be more delicate and tougher to raise not to mention tough to find especailly locally in my area. I know I could order from Florida but I never had good experience getting fish in the mail. So any tips or experience of getting Albino Sterbai in the mail and how did they do after the long trip also really educational for me. I just don't want to spend good chunk of money and they don't recover from the trip and die within the few weeks of getting them. Or worse, they can't even make the trip.
So I could also use some recommendation of seller or store which handle Albino Sterbai. Hopefully somewhere close location from me. I live in Seattle WA U.S.

I would be appreciate if anyone have any info or tips for me. I thank you in advance.

I wouldn't have thought that there's any difference in husbandry between the albino's and the normal ones.

Yes, of course, they are harder to find. In my experience with bristlenoses, the albino's aren't any more delicate than their normal coloured brothers/sisters.

Thanks for your response MatsP,

I don't think it would be much different for the water parameter requiremnt for Regular or Albino Sterbai. However I still think they probably more prone to become sick because of their Albino gene. And I think their fertility rate may be lower than Regular.
Although, I am still not crazy about the "mail order" fish, I am more incline to get some of them for my birthday.
