Has anyone heard of a Bolivian Chevron Pleco ?

Post by superstein61 »

My LFS has a couple small pleco's for sale that they call a Bolivian Chevron Pleco. But the guy I spoke to there didn't know a whole lot about them.

They are pretty neat looking - with black and off white stripes (kind of like a zebra plec - but not as white).

I am setting up a new 72 gallon tank, and among its occupants, I planned 2 Albiino Bristlenose - and on other catfish - and I thought these "Bolivian Chevron" might be good. But I really need to find out more about them - in particular how big they get, etc before I buy them.

I tried searching the net - as well as here but can't find anything about them. Can anyone help?

Thanks

They'll most likely be Peckoltia sp. or Hypancistrus sp. from the sounds of things. If they're still small then the markings may be more vivid than those of the adults. Have you checked the cat-e-log on the main Planet Catfish site? Did the shop have an L-number for them? (Most should nowadays).

Either L15 or L80. They don't grow too large, around 15 cm, and are quite peaceful.

OK, thanks all. I took a look at a bunch of the Peckolitia in the Cat-e-log and you are right, it probably is one of them. Going to get a better sense next time I am at the store now that I have these images in mind. The guy I spoke with didn't have any more info - but I'll be sure to go when my main fish handler is there.

Seems though like most pf the Peckolita stay about 4" or so - so this may work well in my tank. Thanks
