Warning: Botia almorhae

In my everlasting battle against Malaysian trumpet snails, I tried Botia almorhae for they would specifically like snails.
That may be true, but they are also very keen on Auchenipterid fins and tails.
And when I see them trying to dig/bite through my Platystacus, I can almost feel it myself.
So think twice before adding these to your tank, especially when you own rather defenceless catfishes.
I'm getting them out right now!

forgive my ignorance - apart from being a bit unsightly, what is the concern with the snails?

Hope the cats aren't too badly injured by the botia - that's real bad luck

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried all kinds of veggies, snail traps, several Botia species, Puffers, you name it but nothing seems to work properly.
I think I'll return to the old fashioned siphoning......

I stand there and pick the snails out by hand. I'm getting nowhere fast. Good luck, Marc. I feel your pain.

Maybe on the plus side of the ledger, you can view the MTS as Calcium Carbonate sequesters?
Nearly indestructible. I have had some of them survive long exposure to bleach and water mixes.
