CO96

Post by jollysue »

I wondered if anyone can give me some information on the care and breeding of CO96--beyond "have a male and female"? LOL

I have had them for 2 years and thought they were C. armatus. But upon closer examination recently, because of a friend's interest, I became suspicious of the ID. Ian helped me out with a proper ID and indeed they are a match to your pics of the CO96.

They have been kept in the mid 70's F. with C. virginiae/Sangama and C. Pulcher v. III, as well as a tribe of lps C. aeneus and some WC and store bought C. leucomelas.

They have never shown any inclination to breed, and I must look closer to see if there is a female and male.

Does anyone have some experience or info to share. I also will be doing some tank changes for the benefit of closer matches to the correct conditions for my collection soon. So some info would be helpful.

Try dropping a PM to Ian (Coryman) the moderator - he may be busy & has not replied but he should have some info.

Hi Richard B,

Ian is the one who ID'd them. I bought them as C.armatus a few years ago. A friend likes washed out Corys, so I emailed a pic of these and she said breed them! I started looking up info and, as I had already been suspicious, looked closely. They didn't line up with the armatus, so I checked in to get an ID. Ian was right on it, but he hasn't offered any information on their care. No one has so far.

They have been kept in the bottom tank on a double stand with a variety of others. Even though there are some C. aeneus there that spawn, they have shown no interest. So here I am. LOL

Hi jollysue

Corys aren't really my thing but i do know some species are much easier than others whilst some are downright tricky, i'm afraid therefore someone with definate experience will have to post here for you or you could try some trial & error experiments based on known techniques for other species - looking at the "my cats" feature: you are the only (declared) keeper!
