Please Confirm Microglanis ID

Post by Martin S »

OK, so just popped into my LFS today for a nosey, as I tend to most weekends when I'm not working there, and it appears I arrived at the right time because a customer had just bought some fish in that he no longer wanted and the bags were spread about in various tanks, and one of them contained a 'bumblebee cat'. Now they know my love for all things catfish, so rather than try and find a suitable tanks, it was suggested I just leave it in the bag and take it home - so I did :D
Pics are of the fish in the bag whilst it's acclamitising.

Initial thought was , thought I know the colouring of all is very similar - the only thing that threw me was the size - SL is 3", whereas it's listed as only 2.2" SL in the cat-elog.
Because of the size, it's going in the larger tank, and the four Mats has for me will be going into the small tank for the time being at least (depending on their size).
Thanks
Martin

Can't help with the ID, but looks like a nice find. I've seen your fish in my tank a couple of times, and they are neither tiny nor particularly big - perhaps 2-2.5" TL.

I think it's the right fish, despite it being a bit larger.

Thanks Mats - they may then all go into the 'big' tank together when the time comes.
Actually, the more I look at it the more I'm convinced it is just a large , especially as mine has the clear section in the dorsal fin which looking at the pictures, it seems the only one which has this.

Thanks Marc

ps If I can get a photo with size, should I post a request to increase the size in the suggested forum?
