cleaning powdered sand for cory tank

Post by squid »

Hi,

I have a tank prepared for my cories, it has really fine powdered sand. Just wondering how to clean the sand? when i stir the sand, the water will turn milky white?
btw i have the tank prepared almost a month or more but still have not transferred my cories.
Do i need to stir the sand and clean it? its about 1/4 inch thick.

thanks.

Sand for aquaria should be rinsed thoroughly before use, preferably until the water runs clean.

If it isn't in the tank yet then put it in a bucket of water, stir it with a stick & change the water until it it water remains clear on stirring

If it is in the tank already you can do the same sorta thing or install an internal or external power filter then stir every hour or so until all the suspended matter has been removed by the filter

Lou: It's still a three-way!
