S. multi courtship info

Post by exasperatus2002 »

I have two pairs but no spawning cichlids right now. One of my females are plumping up and the males are starting to follow her around and bumping into her pelvic fin area. Whats the chances She'll broadcast spawn? The only fish thats close to spawning is a pair of albino bristle noses that I have in the tank.

Multis have been known to scatter but it is not really a common occurance. If there are pheremones or hormones from the B/Ns then this might trigger them to scatter but if you want to breed then some mouthbrooding cichlids are the way forward. It does sound like the males are starting to harrass a gravid female but she can absorb the eggs rather than scatter if she doesn't feel the conditions are right
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!
