I've been trying to figure out if I have a mixed group, but none of them have the pure gold stripe. Does anyone know when a male would show the stripe? The juvie pic on the C-log doesn't have the correct view.

I think I read somewhere that the FULL stripe in the males isn't evident until their first attempt to breed, but a fainter one is evident upon reaching sexual maturity, or around 6cm TL. (I'm assuming this is the Rio de Janero variety).

I'm not totally sure on the information, but I seem to remember reeding it whilst browsing catfish books in the LFS.

Hope this helps,
Harry

Thanks alot. I could swear I saw the start of stripes on a couple but they were far from as obvious as the adults in the clog.
