Jools' first "collecting trip"

Post by Jools »

Apologies for trivial post, but I recently came across a picture of one of my first collection trips. In this case, to Inverleith Park pond. I managed to catch some minnows and a couple of sticklebacks IIRC!

It's hardly trivial as look what it has led to!!!!!

However, you don't look as enthusiastic as you probably would do now

I beg to differ. It fits a dreamy childhood memory displayed on the photo and awaken by the photo and actually, I find it esthetically pleasing. It sets the right mood. It frames the state of mind - do not look at the shape but rather try to get in touch with an inner child... :D

My dating may be a little off, but the general tenor of the photo makes me think Alfie is going to walk by any minute.

Great shot, it makes me smile for my own fish-catching childhood.

Yeah, it was scanned by my Mum. We've not quite got to that page in the manual yet. It might however have been a passing UFO beaming up some random Scots for testing.

As to dating, I'd say around 1977.

I think this proves we all remember what we caught on our first collecting trip, no matter the age.
