Im looking at the number of zebs and thinking that can't have been a cheap shipment :d
Q) Why are dead fish harder to 'wind up' than live fish?
A) Because dead fish never take the bait! ;)

Yes getting in a new shipment is kinda like having Xmas morning 3-4 times a year

Actually the zebras were quite cheap compared to the LDA-105's and the L-46's :d

I think (but I'm not sure) Lloydy was referring to the L46 when saying "Zebs", rather than the Zebra Oto's in the first picture. And yes, I'd expect you get 5-10 for every - not sure if (=L273?) is more or less than L046 - they are both pretty expensive - and pretty illegal to export from Brazil...

What do you mean? I thought this was a normal appearance for this cat, also called a sturgeon catfish...

But may be it is me who is wrong...

I've had one just like that only ~1'-1.5' TL from Shark Aquarium (greater NYC). Never ate, did not survive.

They are not supposed to have a bent nose, but because they scare relatively easily, they often do when in captivity.

On the Bolt cat:

Is it this?
http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... =7&t=27454

If it is, it is quite rare in the trade.

Thanks, Mats, for cleaning up the link and making it meaningful at a glance (you do it all the time, so I should thank you profusely on everybody's behalf - you are the best, tinkering quietly in your workshop and improving the site for all!) and for the info.

I think it is - at least that's what I have seen called "bolt catfish" before.

Is the max for this guy well-established at 14" or is it just a safe, proven # ?

Prairiefire, will you be addressing my other questions later? I am still interested in the fish.

I'm not sure what the maximum size is on the Bolts, when we order catfish we use this sites catalogue for size references. We don't like to get in anything that will out grow a 6 foot tank. On the other question's - I'm not sure what the price will be on them yet they are still in quarantine and no we are not shipping to the United States at this time.

Thanks, Prairiefire.

Mats, I have no idea how common names are added to Cat-eLog but the search on the name Bolt catfish led me to Brachy capapretum.

BTW: the search on Lince catfish is rather fruitless too while people, e.g., Taksan, refer to this fish as such. Another opportune for improvement.

If fox catfish is a common name for the fish above with a bent nose (I too heard of sturios referred to as fox catfish - George owner of Shark Aquarium called his fish fox catfish, the one I bought but failed to keep), then this should be added to, IMO, which does not mean much.

Viktor, I can add common names, but could you do me a favour and post in the "bugs" forum with the combination of common name and scientific name that you think is missing? That way, I can do it at a time when I have the time (probably today), rather than spending time to first search through the posts to figure it out...
