BUG: Pedantic comments on Breeding Blogs...
1. When adding food in a blog, all other entered data "disappears".
2. Egg size - I think tenths of millimeters may be needed, as most eggs would be in the lower single digit range, and some smaller than 1mm. Would it be possible to make it a floating point number? (Or store it as tenths of millimeters)

Re: Pedantic comments on Breeding Blogs...
Any chance of being able to see the blogs next to the posts for each person?
And a list option on the "my cats" page?

Yes, it's in the plan.MatsP wrote:Any chance of being able to see the blogs next to the posts for each person?
Yes, or wouldn't a "My blog" list off of the link above be better as it wouldn't show multiple same blog for multiple populations of the same species?MatsP wrote:And a list option on the "my cats" page?

That's a bug, will get on to it pronto.MatsP wrote:1. When adding food in a blog, all other entered data "disappears".
Can you really tell the difference between .2mm and .8mm? I'd be inclined to leave it.MatsP wrote:2. Measuring eggs: I can tell the difference between 1mm, 1.5 and 2, and 2.5mm, for certain. If people enter 1, 2, 3 mm anyways, so be it.
I'm not sure what's wrong with me these days. I meant to say "a list option off the Cat-eLog page" for "all 'my blogs'".

Re: Pedantic comments on Breeding Blogs...
This is a really nasty one. When a drop down selection event reloads the page, I do not know how (even if it is possible) to capture the data entered ahead of the submit event. So, my design using one active dropdown and an AJAX box seems to be a bad one. This fault also exists for the food data in My Aquaria.Jools wrote:That's a bug, will get on to it pronto.MatsP wrote:1. The work around for "My Blog" is get the foods right in My Aquaria, but that's pretty lame.
I need to do some research and I might be able to redesign it to be simpler anyway (e.g. just an AJAX box with options like (bloodworm (frozen), flake (prepared), bloodworm(live) and so on).
Leave it with me, this is priority.

Re: BUG: Pedantic comments on Breeding Blogs...
Well, there goes 4 hours of research. Turns out it is nearly impossible and totally impractical, which might explain why no other site does it if you think about it. The issue, in essence, is where is the user's input data. The session data is where it's stored and that's all server side. The user input is all client side so is lost when the page refreshes. Javascript is client side, so can't get the data server side in any kind of sensible way. So, the dropdown that reloads the page with URL parameters has to go and I need to rewrite the AJAX function. Learning is good.
The reason this never came to light in my testing was I didn't storyboard that someone would add new foods when entering a blog. Just didn't occur to me. However, as is now obvious, if they can, they will!
On the plus side, it will be easier to use.

Generally accepted fact in software development: If you CAN do something, SOME (strange) user WILL do this!Jools wrote:However, as is now obvious, if they can, they will!
I actually wasn't even trying to break it on purpose - I just realized that I would need to add food (which by the way, I would like to do multiple sets of food in one go!).
Perhaps have a separate page/menu for manipulating feeding (same source for both blog and aquarium feeding regime)?

Re: BUG: Pedantic comments on Breeding Blogs...
The fix for this means that you could actually add more foods in one go. But that will have to wait. By all means whack that in as an ENHANCE: thread. It will not happen soon.

Re: BUG: Pedantic comments on Breeding Blogs...
Egg sized changed so you can have 1.3mm. Does that close this resolve this thread?

Have you fixed the feeding problems? Or is there another bug for those?

Re: BUG: Pedantic comments on Breeding Blogs...
If the problem is "all data disappears", then yes. If another problem, I'd be keen to see it in another thread. It's easier for me to track on issue per thread...

Sure, I understand - just a bit scatterminded at times and get sidetracked... ;)Jools wrote:If the problem is "all data disappears", then yes. If another problem, I'd be keen to see it in another thread. It's easier for me to track on issue per thread...
