That fish looks like this.

Pimelodus albicans has high body. Also, my fish in the catelog has small mouth.

Really? High, pronounced triangle, right shape and position on the body to me. Maybe two photos, side by side would help me see your point.

that fish posted by me is a juvenile fish - abt 6 inch so I compared with this

I have seen Rico's fish but the adipose fin is quite diff comparing to the image posted by me earlier.

This fish from the profile actually looks more like or something similar.

These fish in the first post indeed look like as far as I can see.

Hi Ben and all, here is my related thread from a year or so ago when my fish was 7" TL: http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... vaillantii

Wish I could photograph this guy today but he is in a deep dark pond and I see only glimpses of him at night, when I come armed with a flashlight and food. When/if I build my Aquarium exhibits and rehome him, I will post new pics then at my thread.

So does everyone think? Is my fish an albicans or a vaillantii? Perhaps replying at my thread, not Ben's, would make more sense.

He has not grown huge at all in this year or so. Maybe, still at a foot or a bit under. I was hoping it was a Vaillantii but such a slow growth tells me I am likely wrong.
