Colombian Loricariid distro info

Post by Shane »

Below is additional Colombian loricariid distribution info that may be useful for the Cat-elog. It comes from Provenzano's ACSI Proposal No. 07-24 (2007).

Cordylancistrus daguae has been collected in the Department of Valle del Cauca, Anchicayá and Dagua Rivers, Pacific slope, Western Andes Mountain Range. Given the insecurity conditions in this area the north and south limits of the distribution are unknown.

Cordylancistrus platyrhynchus, the type locality of this species is the Orteguasa River in Florence, Department of Caquetá. The Orteguasa River is a tributary of the Caquetá River. Specimens of this species have been captured in localities near Mocoa, Department of Putumayo, draining in the Caquetá River, Atlantic slope, Eastern Andes Mountain Range. The north and south limits of the geographical boundary are unidentified.

Dolichancistrus atratoensis only know from the type locality, Quebrada La Noche, upper Atrato River and two specimens coming from Tutunendo River, Atrato River system, Caribbean Sea basin, Western Andes Mountain Range, Departments of Antioquia and Chocó.

Dolichancistrus carnegiei inhabit in several tributaries of the Magdalena River flow thru the western slope of the Eastern Andes Mountain Range, Departments of Tolima, Cundinamarca, Boyacá and Santander.

Some interesting distribution maps for Andean fishes are here:

www.bio-nica.info/biblioteca/PecesAndes5.pdf

They appear however to be based on the literature and not physical surveys.

I have added in the details into the Cat-eLog for the Cordylancistrus and Dolichancistrus listed above.

I also added all other missing species of these two genera, and updated some other data on a few of them.

Thanks Mats! That would make this "resolved."
