pictures of Mango Plecos (L47) appear off screen

Post by Narwhal72 »

I was trying to look at some pictures of the Mango Pleco but when I open the pictures they appear off the left hand side of my monitor with only a sliver of the picture visible on the left of the screen.

Hi Andy,

I've checked that page and it looks fine for me in my environment. Any chance you could post a screenshot?

I just tried it from my home computer and it looks fine now. I will try it at work next week and see if I get the same issue.

Just tried it at work and same problem. Here is supposed to be an image of C. parallelus.

You can see the extreme right hand margin of the image in the left of the screen shot. Could this possibly be because I expanded my desktop to two monitors? I don't have the same problem on my home computer.

I have the same thing suddenly. If I enlarge an image in the Cat-eLog it comes up off screen.

All images or some in particular? Is this also using MSIE? If this on a laptop, have you (or anyone else) recently connected the laptop to a screen or projector?

It appears for me on all images from my work computer. Which is a laptop that I expand to use a second monitor. I am also using IE9.

I randomly clicked on several profiles in the Cat-elog and they all come up that way. On the profile page the first picture is large and the others small, clicking on any given photo leads to a page that looks just like what Narwhal posted above. Not having this issue on any other site I frequent.

Shane,

It won't manifest itself on any other site. Planet is a custom built thing. Need to understand your screen settings to see if it the same cause as Andy mentions or might be something else and thus provide a clue.

Andy,

Can you post a full screenshot showing all of the browser window? I am struggling to replicate this but I feel it is linked with this and I am keen to fix it.

Cheers,

Jools

Jools,
Mine looks just like the new screen shots above by Andy. I am using Internet Explorer. Not sure how to find out the version.
This laptop was connected to a projector for a presentation last weekend, but the problem predates that. I suspect that if you find a solution to Andy's issue it will also solve mine as his screen shots above are just what I am seeing.
I just clicked a few Cat-eLog entries and the issue is still there.

Shane,

If you press windows key + P, what option is highlighted? If it isn't "computer only" then select that, reboot and tell me if it's still an issue?

Thank God for screen shots. I've just noticed (Andy) that you've got compatibility view switched on. I tried it here and got the same (pic off the screen) result.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... t-Explorer

Compatibility view is for old and not very standards compliant sites. I spend a lot of my time ensuring that's not us. You don't need this MS hack!

Does that fix the problem? Shane too?
