Post by French47 »

Hi Guys,
Can some please help me, I have just received the analysis of my local water, Can someone please explain it to me, I want to know what the total hardness in dGH and how you got to the answer.
My Calcium is min 33.30 to max 37.00 mgCa/l
Magnesium reads min 4.0 to max 6.40 mgMg/l
P.H 7.4 to 7.8
Is there anything else I need of the report to work out my water results.
I do hope some body can help.
Cheers

I would suggest googling wiki and waterhardness

I did so, and found (in the Dutch wikipedia) 40 mg (calcium and magnesium together) = 8 DH. Your water is between 37 and 43 mg/l

8DH is referred to as middle hard water, one can breed Geophagus in it, but not discus

pH 7.4-7.8 is quite normal in most of European countries

hope this helps
