The Hiatus is Over- Baby Stripes

Post by TwoTankAmin »

It has been since November 2010 that I have been able to post this anywhere. I have zebra fry again. I was beginning to think I was sailing under a curse. After getting 100s of fry from 2006 through November 2010, my zebras stopped spawning and nothing I tried seemed to change that.

So I have been doing the maint. and feeding etc. etc. and had simply given up trying. Last night at after midnight, while cleaning the wc breeder tank, I spotted a 3/4 inch fry. I was so excited I almost defied gravity. I went to a site to post about my good fortune and went back to working on the tank. It took less than 30 seconds for a much smaller fry to dart into view.

Clearly I have had two spawns, the most recent one had to have only gone free swimming in the past day or two. The other fry would indicate I had missed a spawn about 6-8 weeks ago, maybe more. Life has been very busy and hectic and tanks have been neglected more than I would like for the past few months.

If I were grinning any wider I think my cheeks might split.

Yay! That's fantastic news TTA. Maybe I should go check my tank? Wish I thought it would help, as I checked a few days ago, hehe. I'm very glad for you!

Nice one ! , seems to be a running theme, fish breeding when being left along without to much intervention.
